Step 1: Visit the OpenAI Website

Open your web browser and go to the official OpenAI website at www.openai.com.

Step 2: Sign Up or Log In

If you don't have an account, click on the “Sign Up” button and fill out the registration form with your email, name, and password. If you already have an account, click “Log In” and enter your credentials.

Step 3: Access Your Account Dashboard

Once logged in, navigate to your account dashboard (top bar). This is where you can manage your OpenAI services.

Step 4: Navigate to the API Keys Section

In your dashboard, cliack the "API Keys" button in the left side bar.

Step 5: Create new API/secret Key

You should see an option to "Create new secret key". Click on it. In the pop-up, set "owned by" to "You", give it an aribtrary name (optional), set permissions to "All". Click "Create secret key". A new API key will be generated for you. This key is a unique code that allows your HomeDOCtor to access OpenAI's services.

Step 6: Store Your API Key Securely

Once your API key is generated, copy it and store it in a safe location. Be careful not to share it publicly or with unauthorized individuals, as it grants access to OpenAI services.

Step 7: Use Your API Key

Now that you have your API key, you can use it within HomeDOCtor access to OpenAI's services. Simply paste the API key into the respective field in HomeDOCtor (you will be prompted).
